TARK is a Firefox add-on that can make the bookmarks temporarily available. It does so by providing access to a new toolbar button - or several buttons - that make it possible to mark bookmarks. Bookmarks can be set to be available for up to four weeks using the Firefox add-on. Keep in mind that this is an option, it is still perfectly possible to add bookmarks the usual way which ensures that they will never expire.

Mozilla Add-ons Blog
This morning, addons.mozilla.org reached a huge milestone: we served our 1 billionth add-on download since we started keeping track of downloads in 2005.This number only includes downloads from addons.mozilla.org, but as many add-ons are hosted elsewhere, we can be sure the actual number is even higher. This is a very exciting week for Firefox add-ons, with the launch of Fashion Your Firefox yesterday, offering a new way for first-time add-on users to customize their browser.

Mozilla Asks Add-On Developers to Prepare For Firefox 3.1
Mozilla has cultivated one of the most interesting and healthiest ecosystems for extension developers around its popular Firefox browser. The problems with this, of course, is that whenever Mozilla releases a new version of Firefox, developers have to make sure that their software is compatible. For the next release of its browser, Mozilla aims to make sure that 90% of those add-ons that make up the top 95% of add-on usage will be compatible with the latest version of Firefox.

Comprehensive Firefox 3 Add-on Compatibility Report
The next time you upgrade Firefox—which will be to version 3.1—you don't want to find out that your favorite extension isn't yet compatible with the new version, and Mozilla's going out of their way to make sure that doesn't happen. This report will update as Firefox 3.1 nears release; in the meantime, it's very interesting to browse the list, which is ordered by usage frequency to compare it to your favorite extensions.

Private Browsing extension
I did expect the community to get interested in extending the Private Browsing mode by developing extensions, but I didn't expect it to happen this soon! I'm happy to announce that the first Private Browsing extension has been developed by the community member Kurt Schultz! This extension adds a toolbar and a status bar button to Firefox for quick access to the Private Browsing feature, and lets you toggle a few of the underlying preferences as a bonus! Grab it while it's hot from AMO!

Prepare your add-on for Private Browsing
Private Browsing is one of the new features of Firefox which extension developers should start to handle in their extensions. The API for this new mode is quite straightforward, and easy to use. In addition, theme developers may want to style Firefox differently inside the Private Browsing mode. That is also insanely easy to do. In this article, I'm going to give you an overview of how the API works, plus with some sample code.
