Enter FireUnit! An extension for Firebug that aims to be able to test Firebug itself, and later on, perhaps be a useful framework for developing unittests for the web. It’s still very early on, but there’s a core emerging.

Installing FireUnit is currently a bit of a manual affair. Download the source code from the github repository and extract the downloaded zip or tar file to your local filesystem.

Software is hard | Fireunit, testing in the Firebug world. 2 weeks 5 days ago: I've been recently working with John Resig on his great Firebug extension called Fireunit. This very promising extension is intended as an automated testing framework for Firefox extensions and it should also be useful for testing web pages in the future. It's still at the beginning, but growing and starting to be very useful for testing Firebug itself.
Such unit test framework is what I have been waiting for a long time. Not only debugging and profiling is important and the unit testing was the missing piece in the Firebug world.

This version requires Firebug version 1.2.0b4; that's the latest version at the moment. The previous version of the history add-on was making Firebug to hang; some functions from Firebug that I used changed as well as some of the NetMonitor and NetPanel behaviours so it was causing hang.
