What is CyberSearch? It lets you perform various types of Google searches right from the address bar in Firefox 3. As you’re typing the extension will send your query to Google, grab the results, and then display them along side the history results that Firefox normally shows. Visit the site and watch the video for more details. It looks really kewl to me, but I don't do enough searches to use it.

11 Vote(s)

Just like you can add user scripts (JavaScript) to web pages with the Greasemonkey extension, you can also add user styles (CSS) to Firefox's interface with the Stylish extension. While lots of user styles just skin specific web sites with a new look, many can actually improve the browser itself by changing the look and behavior of menus, tabs, dialogs, and buttons—Firefox's "chrome." Let's take a look at some of the best user styles which tweak, customize, enhance, and streamline Firefox's chrome.

7 Vote(s)

Back in 1999, Netscape was comatose, and Microsoft thought it had won permanent dominance of the market for Web browsers. Then a funny thing happened. Netscape's code lived on at the nonprofit Mozilla Foundation and was resurrected in 2004 as Mozilla's Firefox browser. Now, according to research firm Net Applications, Firefox has more than 18% of the global market. Firefox 3 is scheduled to be released this month and may well push that share above 20% by the time Microsoft releases its next version of Internet Explorer late this year. It's a remarkable achievement for an organization with 150 employees that depends on the efforts of a few hundred volunteer developers.

6 Vote(s)

There’s a good chance that you’ve played with things in other applications that are similar to Smart Bookmarks. These are playlists that automatically assemble themselves based on specific criteria, such as the “most played” and “recently added” media. Smart Bookmarks are very similar since they can show you things like your most visited bookmarks or your recently added bookmarks:

15 Vote(s)

At Mozilla, we’re concerned that this flawed measure of security does a disservice to users trying to navigate the already tricky Web security landscape.
With the recent release of the new AMO (AddOns.Mozilla.org) 3.2 a couple weeks ago came countless complaints. Many users (including the Guru) would like to see the AMO team to “Add an advanced search that lets me search by app max/min version range, platform, add-on type, etc…”. Besides that, here are three big ones as put together by Basil Hashem on the AMO Team:“You removed valuable information that we had previously“- application compatibility information, add-on modication (sic) dates, download counts (in selected views). “The new Smart Install button is dumb!” - advanced users were frustrated by the limitation that AMO placed and its inability to allow downloads of any version for testing purposes, etc. “You removed two important add-on lists” - Bring back the New Add-ons and Recently Updated add-ons views New the AMO version 3.2.1 is a minor update and does not address issue #3 and may be partially #1

3 Vote(s)

Mozilla's Asa Dotzler on Firefox, Fighting Bloat and the Problem with Democracy. Comments on: Netscape and Mozilla parting ways. Why extensions (now add-ons) came about. How it's decided which features are included in Firefox. The pressure to add more features into the core of Firefox and where it comes from. Why everyones votes alone don't decided which features are added. And finally how Firefox 3 is going to make 'the most significant contribution to the browser ecosystem upon its release'. Interesting read IMO.

6 Vote(s)
