One of the most amazing components of the Download Day campaign was the huge number of people around the world who took the time to add a Spread Firefox button or banner to their website to support the program. In fact, Download Day buttons localized in a dozen languages accounted for more than 43 million impressions. Think about that for a second. 43 million! At a conservative online CPM of $5, that would be almost a quarter of a million dollars in promotional value. And through the Funnelcake project, an estimated 5% of all Firefox downloads originate from the Affiliates Program.

10 Vote(s)

firefox 3.0.1 and disabled add-onsI've read around the blogs and twitterverse that people are seeing some of their add-ons disabled by the just-released Firefox 3.0.1 security and stability update. There's good news and bad news here.First the bad news. Yes, several add-ons seem to be disabled with the update to Firefox 3.0.1. This should not have happened and is most likely the result of a mistake in the add-on's Firefox compatibility string. Where the author should have used "3.0.*" they instead used just "3.0" (note the missing "*")The good news is that it's only a few add-ons and Mozilla folks are reaching out to those authors to help them fix their version compatibility. I think we'll see pretty quick updates from those vendors.

9 Vote(s)

Firefox Adding a “Favicon” to your website is actually a pretty simple process. Follow the instructions below to add a favicon to your site. Adding the Favicon: 1. Create your favicon. To create your favicon (a 16×16 pixel .ico image), you may create one, or select an image of your choice and edit it with a graphics design/editing program like Adobe Photoshop/CS3, the GIMP, or some free services (here for instance) offered by numerous websites on the net. 2. Upload the favicon to the directory/folder in which your website’s index page (website’s home page) is located. 3. Add the following line of text between the <head> tags (<head> and </head> respectively) of your index page: <link rel=“icon” href=“favicon.ico” type=“image/x-icon” />

9 Vote(s)

I prefer to set this value to 2 which is the best value in my opinion. Tristan Nitot, President of Mozilla Europe, accepted the certificate from Gareth Deaves, Records Manager for Internet and Technology at Guinness World Records, on behalf the Firefox Community. The record achievement certificate was awarded in front of a 300 strong community gathering in central London to celebrate the launch of Firefox 3, and the Guinness World Record feat. The event was organized by our friends at Glaxstar. It’s wonderful to finally have this official document - a great accomplishment for our community and one that we can all be proud.
